Ron Hitchcock – LA Music Mixer

It’s true that in music mixing “up is louder”... But making things somewhat more interesting, mixing music tracks a re infinitely variable.

I have had the honor and pleasure of working with extremely talented artists, writers and musicians. My professional career began in radio broadcasting and programming, then music mastering (cutting LP lacquer masters at The Mastering Lab in Hollywood) followed by music mixing as a career choice. I carry an abnormal amount of “quality” baggage since Doug Sax (RIP) instilled in me that only your finest effort matters.

Musical expression is serious work, but hit records are quite frankly another journey designed to inspire repeated play, purchase and memories that span decades. With each mix I paint pictures that support the lyric and melody, and promotes a unique and lasting artist image.

I’ve used just about every piece of studio gear - it’s a never-ending quest. I mix on large format analog boards like Trident, Neve, SSL, and my favorite the API, as well as most digital audio work surfaces. I am proud of a Grammy nomination for Harry James, a “direct-to-disk” live recording for Sheffield Lab Records. And I’ve earned numerous RIAA certified gold and platinum records, as well as Golden Reel awards for film re-recording.

I’ve produced, recorded, mixed, edited and mastered for some truly amazing talents: Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand, Toto, George Benson, Harry James, Booker T. Jones, Melissa Manchester, Kris Kristofferson and even The Dickies.

Digital World

I use Pro Tools on a Mac Studio with an arsenal of plugins. Perhaps digital's best quality is its recall ability. I can build a mix over time and return to it in moments making revisions fast and predictable.

Analog Heart

I draw on many years of putting together records. I work with leading artists and producers, but I also work regularly with new independent artists. I put the same energy, attention and dedication into every project with an ear on the end result - a great record that the artist and all involved can be most proud.

Out-of-Area Clients

The Internet makes it possible for us to work together keeping your involvement from anywhere in the world. If you need a new vocal performance, a lyric change, or are inspired to replace the guitar solo, just upload a .wav file. Perhaps you need to replace a kick drum? I have an extensive sample library. Maybe you want to add that string part that really takes the chorus to the next level. I can recommend Hollywood's finest arrangers and studio players, even members of The Wrecking Crew. Just ask..!
